ROBERT HACKETT


WESTBOROUGH- Robert Hackett, 81, of Westborough, died on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Dorothy R. (Vadis) Hackett.

Born in Westborough, he was the son of the late Clement and Josephine (Moran) Hackett. He was educated in Westborough and was a graduate of Westborough High School. During the Korean Conflict he served with the U. S. Army.

Mr. Hackett was a self -employed home builder, building many homes in the Westborough area. In later years he worked as a carpenter for Fafard Construction.

Robert was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a life member of the John Boyle O'Reilly Council #85, Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW.

He was an avid gardener and generously shared his vegetables with many friends in town.

He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Hackett of Westborough; one brother, David Hackett of Englewood, FL; one sister, Helen Ostergaard of Yarmouth and two grandchildren, TJ Hunt and Christopher Hunt.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery. Calling hours at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough, are Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 7 P.M.
